WEBVTT
00:19.105 --> 00:21.438
Come on! Come on! Go!
00:27.938 --> 00:28.938
Go!
00:33.771 --> 00:35.771
Come on! Come on! Go! Go!
00:37.771 --> 00:42.646
Oh my gosh! Oh my god! What is going on?
00:48.355 --> 00:49.355
Whoa!
01:01.355 --> 01:03.230
- Where'd it go?
- Whoa!
01:04.480 --> 01:05.771
What was that?
01:05.855 --> 01:09.855
A ghost! A freaking ghost!
01:09.938 --> 01:11.438
That's what I've been saying!
01:11.521 --> 01:13.605
We need to get out of here
before it comes back!
01:13.688 --> 01:15.438
Don't have to ask me twice!
02:05.771 --> 02:08.480
What… What are those things?
02:08.563 --> 02:11.021
It's more of those Hate Sprites!
02:12.605 --> 02:14.605
What do we do?
02:15.646 --> 02:18.146
Just back away slowly.
02:18.855 --> 02:20.521
Can they hurt us?
02:20.605 --> 02:22.646
Yes, very much so.
02:24.438 --> 02:25.646
This is crazy!
02:34.355 --> 02:36.355
Whoa. Uh…
02:40.980 --> 02:42.105
Oh no!
02:47.896 --> 02:49.521
- No!
- Run!
02:49.605 --> 02:52.438
Get off of me, you overgrown housefly!
02:59.521 --> 03:01.230
Get off of me! Get--
03:03.188 --> 03:05.688
Max! No!
03:10.730 --> 03:11.938
El!
03:14.813 --> 03:17.063
Leave her alone!
03:36.480 --> 03:37.521
El!
04:09.521 --> 04:11.771
What the… What the heck?
04:11.855 --> 04:15.313
Did… Did those things come
from the flowers or something?
04:15.396 --> 04:16.605
They must have.
04:18.688 --> 04:21.480
Do you think they're from the Upside Down?
04:23.188 --> 04:24.813
I do not know.
04:25.438 --> 04:29.105
Whatever they are,
we gotta tell the others.
04:44.730 --> 04:45.730
Did we lose it?
04:46.646 --> 04:47.813
I think we're good.
04:48.646 --> 04:50.980
Oh my god! Oh my god!
04:51.063 --> 04:55.355
This could be The H.I.C.'s first contact
with the afterlife!
04:55.438 --> 04:59.730
We have to record every interaction,
take meticulous notes, and…
04:59.813 --> 05:01.938
Are you, like, okay?
05:02.021 --> 05:03.105
Yeah. I'm fine.
05:03.188 --> 05:06.730
Mike, you have to walk us
through your encounter. In detail.
05:06.813 --> 05:08.230
What? No.
05:08.313 --> 05:11.605
It's for science! For posterity!
05:11.688 --> 05:13.980
I'm gonna kick your posterity
if you keep asking.
05:14.063 --> 05:16.438
Whoa! Guys, come on. Just cool it!
05:17.646 --> 05:20.688
Here, whatever detail you want,
it's in there.
05:20.771 --> 05:22.480
You got pics?
05:23.980 --> 05:26.146
I was just trying to see in the dark.
05:27.021 --> 05:28.938
Yeah. Doesn't look like much.
05:29.021 --> 05:30.605
Hold on. Hold on.
05:30.688 --> 05:32.396
- What?
- Whoa.
05:33.396 --> 05:34.938
Is that a dead guy?
05:35.021 --> 05:39.105
He's not just dead. Look, he was murdered.
05:39.605 --> 05:41.105
There's one more picture.
05:43.271 --> 05:45.188
That just looks like a blurry light.
05:45.271 --> 05:46.938
But we all know it's not.
05:47.021 --> 05:49.230
Look at the color of that pickaxe.
05:49.313 --> 05:51.230
Is that silver?
05:52.188 --> 05:55.396
This guy was killed by Bloodaxe Bill.
05:55.480 --> 05:58.938
No wonder he's haunting the mine.
He has unfinished business.
06:00.146 --> 06:05.271
I'm sorry it comes down to this,
but I know what we have to do here.
06:05.355 --> 06:06.188
What?
06:06.771 --> 06:08.146
Our homework.
06:15.521 --> 06:18.688
A ghost? You dorks cannot be serious.
06:18.771 --> 06:21.271
This is not the time
to live out your Ghostbuster fantasies.
06:21.355 --> 06:24.146
But I saw it. It was as close as you are.
06:24.230 --> 06:25.938
Ghosts are real?
06:26.021 --> 06:27.188
- Yes.
- No.
06:27.980 --> 06:31.688
If they aren't real, then explain that.
06:33.938 --> 06:35.396
What is that, your thumb?
06:35.480 --> 06:38.480
I can't believe
you're wasting time on a campfire story.
06:38.563 --> 06:41.896
Bloodaxe Bill? Haunted mines?
Do you hear yourselves?
06:41.980 --> 06:44.855
The Upside Down
has always been our problem.
06:45.521 --> 06:47.730
It's still our problem.
06:47.813 --> 06:51.021
Those flowers have Upside Down
written all over them.
06:51.105 --> 06:52.396
The Hate Sprites too.
06:52.480 --> 06:55.188
We're not really saying
this is the Upside Down again, are we?
06:55.271 --> 06:58.605
Last month, this town was crawling
with spore-y plant creatures.
06:58.688 --> 07:01.896
Now there are Murder Flowers
and Hate Sprites on the loose.
07:01.980 --> 07:04.396
Ooh, scary flowers. Heh.
07:04.480 --> 07:07.146
Guess I gotta cancel my order
at the florist.
07:07.230 --> 07:10.230
Florist? The flowers.
07:10.313 --> 07:12.813
One plus one equals the Upside Down.
07:12.896 --> 07:14.980
And if there is one thing
The H.I.C. tackles,
07:15.063 --> 07:16.980
it is the freaking Upside Down.
07:17.063 --> 07:18.605
- Max?
- Oh, come on.
07:18.688 --> 07:19.521
Max!
07:19.605 --> 07:22.563
No, you! Come on!
Do you want me to dump you again?
07:22.646 --> 07:23.938
Yeah, right!
07:24.021 --> 07:27.521
Max! The Hate Sprites live
in the flowers, right?
07:27.605 --> 07:28.938
Right.
07:29.021 --> 07:30.438
Flowers.
07:30.521 --> 07:33.188
Like the ones we stashed at school.
07:35.355 --> 07:37.855
Um, did we say Code Red?
07:37.938 --> 07:42.313
This isn't a Code Red.
It's a golden opportunity.
07:42.396 --> 07:46.646
Don't you see?
The H.I.C. has two cases at the same time.
07:46.730 --> 07:50.896
This is what we've been building towards,
what we've dreamed of.
07:50.980 --> 07:54.688
We can't just let this chance pass us by.
Two cases means that--
07:54.771 --> 07:55.688
We split up.
07:55.771 --> 07:58.563
Yeah, we'll take the school
and the Hate Sprites.
07:58.646 --> 08:03.230
Team Two, we'll stay on Bloodaxe Bill.
He's already claimed one victim,
08:03.313 --> 08:08.438
so we all have to figure out a way
to stop him before he takes another. Okay?
08:09.855 --> 08:11.605
- Fine.
- Sure.
08:13.063 --> 08:15.396
Great, let's roll. We're wasting time.
08:21.105 --> 08:23.355
Maybe I'm on Team One this time.
08:24.396 --> 08:29.271
I mean, the girls might need my help
carrying all those flowers.
08:29.355 --> 08:32.980
Rad, okay. We could use another set
of hands on flower-thrashing duty.
08:33.563 --> 08:35.730
Come on, Mike.
You're not getting out of research
08:35.813 --> 08:37.813
- just 'cause you're scared of ghosts.
- What?
08:37.896 --> 08:41.355
This isn't a field trip, Lucas.
He doesn't need a permission slip.
08:41.438 --> 08:43.438
Well, are you coming or what?
08:45.105 --> 08:47.063
Traitor.
08:51.438 --> 08:55.896
Murder Flowers, killer Hate Sprites,
mineshaft ghosts.
08:55.980 --> 08:58.438
Heck, even the pumpkin pies were evil.
08:58.521 --> 09:01.646
Max, one new kid to another,
have you ever considered…?
09:01.730 --> 09:06.396
Yeah, how completely nuts this town is?
So many times.
09:08.480 --> 09:11.438
So, the flower I gave you was…
09:11.521 --> 09:12.646
A Murder Flower.
09:13.146 --> 09:19.396
I am so sorry. I owe you
another one, a non-murder one.
09:19.480 --> 09:22.480
You do not owe me anything, Mike.
09:23.271 --> 09:27.063
I just wanted to get you something nice.
09:27.146 --> 09:30.855
I… I… I always want
to get you nice things.
09:30.938 --> 09:33.605
Sometimes words are not enough?
09:34.188 --> 09:37.271
Yeah? I mean, yeah.
09:37.355 --> 09:42.146
I mean, I guess
what I'm trying to say, to ask, is
09:42.230 --> 09:47.146
you're so cool,
and so great, and so… brave.
09:49.146 --> 09:52.355
Mike, you wanted to ask something?
09:52.438 --> 09:56.230
I… No. It's… It's just…
09:56.313 --> 09:57.980
We'll talk about it later.
10:16.688 --> 10:19.688
None of this actually explains
who that skeleton was,
10:19.771 --> 10:21.855
or why Bloodaxe Bill axed him,
10:21.938 --> 10:25.313
because that definitely didn't happen
in any explosion.
10:25.396 --> 10:27.896
I'm not finding anything either.
10:27.980 --> 10:31.563
Maybe there's a missing page somewhere.
10:32.938 --> 10:38.063
Or… Or maybe we need
to decode a secret message.
10:38.146 --> 10:40.063
That feels like a stretch.
10:40.146 --> 10:41.855
"Where's the silver pickaxe?"
10:41.938 --> 10:43.605
It's still stuck in the skeleton.
10:43.688 --> 10:47.563
No, look. Somebody wrote
all over the margins of this book.
10:47.646 --> 10:51.271
"The curse…" Something.
10:51.355 --> 10:55.771
"…never be lifted until…" Something.
10:55.855 --> 10:56.896
"…the truth"?
10:56.980 --> 10:58.438
"Curse."
10:58.521 --> 11:01.188
Didn't Charlie mention something
about a curse?
11:01.271 --> 11:06.480
Okay. While you all know that
I do not condone defacing library books,
11:06.563 --> 11:10.188
it's clear whoever wrote this
has information we need.
11:10.271 --> 11:12.521
We should find and question…
11:12.605 --> 11:13.980
"AMD."
11:15.646 --> 11:17.188
Is that enough?
11:17.938 --> 11:19.563
Enough for a start.
11:19.646 --> 11:21.438
That's a lead. Let's go.
11:22.855 --> 11:25.188
Do you think Mrs. Wheeler would let us
use her phone book?
11:25.271 --> 11:26.188
Probably.
11:35.105 --> 11:38.313
4872 Barnum. This is it.
11:42.563 --> 11:45.188
Looks like a place McGruff the Crime Dog
would warn us about.
11:45.271 --> 11:51.396
Oh, come on. This is The H.I.C.
We laugh in the face of danger.
11:51.480 --> 11:53.105
Onwards, champions.
11:56.313 --> 12:00.271
But maybe, you know,
be careful with what you touch.
12:15.896 --> 12:16.938
Uh…
12:17.021 --> 12:20.146
Good evening, sir.
Do you have a moment to discuss--
12:20.230 --> 12:21.605
I gave at the office.
12:24.605 --> 12:26.063
Is this your handwriting?
12:27.563 --> 12:28.938
Who wants to know?
12:29.021 --> 12:31.563
Just a couple kids interested
in the truth.
12:35.605 --> 12:37.646
Tsk. Jeez.
12:40.271 --> 12:42.146
Get in here. Quick.
12:53.355 --> 12:57.021
So what do we do if the shed's, like,
swarming with those things?
12:57.105 --> 13:00.021
Close the door and run?
Set the place on fire?
13:00.813 --> 13:03.355
You should've seen
how fast we ran out of that mine.
13:03.438 --> 13:05.146
I think we broke the sound barrier.
13:05.230 --> 13:06.646
Adrenaline.
13:06.730 --> 13:07.813
Adrenaline?
13:07.896 --> 13:10.813
Yeah, when you get scared,
your brain produces adrenaline.
13:10.896 --> 13:14.521
It lets people do impossible things.
Big energy boost.
13:27.896 --> 13:31.563
Speaking of boosts,
we should have brought our knickknacks.
13:32.521 --> 13:36.688
No matter what happens, I can protect us.
13:54.230 --> 13:57.355
So, Mr. AMD…
13:57.438 --> 13:58.271
Arthur.
13:58.355 --> 13:59.855
Oh. Uh…
13:59.938 --> 14:02.438
Nice to meet you, Arthur.
14:02.521 --> 14:07.605
My name's Dustin. This is Will and Lucas.
We go to Hawkins Middle School.
14:07.688 --> 14:13.980
And we're doing a local history report
about Samuel Hawkins and Bloodaxe Bill.
14:14.063 --> 14:16.063
Local history?
14:16.146 --> 14:18.771
Bah! More like local garbage.
14:19.730 --> 14:22.688
This town has never cared about the truth.
14:22.771 --> 14:24.813
Not as long as the money kept flowing.
14:25.771 --> 14:28.063
These are your notes, then?
14:28.146 --> 14:31.771
I'm the only one who cares
to correct all the lies they print.
14:33.146 --> 14:38.813
History is written by the victors, right?
My family ain't the victors.
14:38.896 --> 14:43.480
That's what we're here for.
We want someone to tell us the real truth.
14:57.063 --> 14:58.813
What's the use?
14:58.896 --> 15:03.063
Everyone believes Bloodaxe Bill
was nothing but a silver-mad monster
15:03.146 --> 15:05.688
whose greed got good men killed.
15:05.771 --> 15:07.105
Try us.
15:17.938 --> 15:20.188
Fine. You want the truth?
15:20.813 --> 15:23.980
Bloodaxe Bill wasn't no villain.
15:24.063 --> 15:26.230
That's why he was murdered.
15:26.813 --> 15:27.813
Murdered?
16:01.480 --> 16:05.146
Um, I'm not seeing any Hate Sprites.
16:05.730 --> 16:08.146
I… I guess we're okay, then.
16:08.230 --> 16:11.063
So, how are we gonna do this?
16:18.146 --> 16:19.980
I'm thinking like this.
16:25.313 --> 16:27.480
Murdered? But that skeleton,
16:27.563 --> 16:30.563
it had Bloodaxe Bill's silver pickaxe
in its chest.
16:30.646 --> 16:32.688
We thought it must've been
one of his victims,
16:32.771 --> 16:34.688
someone who tried to stop him
16:34.771 --> 16:38.313
before he made his men dig too deep
and blew up the whole mine.
16:38.396 --> 16:39.813
Bah!
16:39.896 --> 16:41.480
Lies, I tell ya.
16:45.105 --> 16:50.771
If there's a skeleton in that mine,
then it's Bloodaxe himself.
16:50.855 --> 16:54.105
Don't you see?
He didn't cause no explosion.
16:54.188 --> 17:00.730
His only crime was caring for his miners
and trusting the wrong man,
17:00.813 --> 17:04.480
his friend, his murderer,
17:04.563 --> 17:07.438
Samuel Hawkins himself!
17:20.813 --> 17:22.355
Ah!
17:37.188 --> 17:38.313
Just the wind.
17:39.563 --> 17:43.021
Yeah, just the wind.
17:50.230 --> 17:51.980
Wind do that too?
17:54.021 --> 17:58.521
Guys, are these things still alive?
18:05.396 --> 18:06.813
Guys!
18:06.896 --> 18:09.771
Come on! Let's shred those things
and get out of here!
18:20.480 --> 18:22.813
Did that come from the flowers?
18:33.480 --> 18:35.188
It was Hawkins and his greed
18:35.271 --> 18:38.771
that forced his miners
to keep digging where they shouldn't.
18:38.855 --> 18:41.063
And when Bloodaxe stood up to him,
18:41.146 --> 18:44.563
it was Hawkins' greed
that stole that silver axe
18:44.646 --> 18:47.563
and drove it into my granddad's chest!
18:47.646 --> 18:50.896
Wait a second.
Bloodaxe Bill was your grandfather?
18:50.980 --> 18:54.938
He was. And he was a good man.
18:55.021 --> 18:58.730
Not that anyone
in this blasted town believes it.
18:58.813 --> 19:02.813
After the explosion,
Hawkins covered his tracks.
19:02.896 --> 19:07.605
He made himself the hero
and my granddad the devil.
19:09.105 --> 19:12.230
He earned himself two legacies.
19:12.313 --> 19:16.313
The first, the town named in his honor.
19:16.396 --> 19:18.230
But the second,
19:18.313 --> 19:22.646
that's the curse of Bloodaxe Bill.
19:22.730 --> 19:26.563
Because the spirit of Bloodaxe Bill
will never rest.
19:27.230 --> 19:30.730
And he now haunts the town
that killed him.
19:33.813 --> 19:34.646
It's him!
19:35.771 --> 19:36.813
The ghost!
19:50.355 --> 19:51.396
Nikki!
19:58.063 --> 20:01.396
And if one of Hawkins' own
crosses his path,
20:02.188 --> 20:06.355
then they will feel the full wrath
of Bloodaxe Bill…
20:07.730 --> 20:08.730
Mike!
20:08.813 --> 20:11.063
…and his undying curse.
20:26.563 --> 20:27.563
El!
20:36.188 --> 20:37.271
No, no, no!
20:57.355 --> 21:00.355
I… I can't stop it.
